December Athlete of the Month: Corinne Gold

crofton crossfit december athlete of the month corinne goldEach month at Crofton CrossFit, we like to recognize one of our members as “Athlete of the Month” to show them how much we appreciate their hard work and dedication. The CrossFit community is composed of people from all different walks of life, each with their own unique story. Congratulations to Corinne Gold for being chosen by our coaches as our December Athlete of the Month! Corinne is a consistently hard worker who never fails to brings positive encouragement to those around her.

Back in October, Corinne helped spearhead the Crofton CrossFit Row-a-Thon to raise awareness and funds for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. By the end of the month, our team raised a collective $1,720 for this great cause – a whopping $1,015 of which was donated through Corinne’s personal team member fundraising page. It is safe to say that we could not have reached our team goal – much less surpassed it – without Corinne’s efforts, kind heart, and continuous determination.

Crofton CrossFit Member Corinne Gold’s Fitness Journey

Being named as athlete of the month is a true honor which has required me to sit down and reflect on my time at Crofton CrossFit. As someone who has participated in tennis, softball, soccer, swimming and running, I was always looking for team oriented exercise alternatives. 2 ½ years ago my cousin talked me into trying CrossFit and after much persistence on her part, I gave in and gave it a whirl. I was hooked after my first Foundations class and have stayed hooked in a big way. I never would have thought that I would enjoy working out as much and as often as I do but I love it – Crofton CrossFit has completely transformed my life and reshaped the way I think about exercise. I enjoy it so much that when I travel I can’t wait to try out other boxes. CrossFit has improved my overall endurance, stamina, and energy and I’ve never felt stronger or more confident in myself then I do now.

The CrossFit structure (lifting weights, teamwork, competitions), has restructured the way my mind and body work. I no longer struggle through 10 hour shifts at work and the U.S. Army’s PT test is no longer the stress inducing ordeal that it used to be. The coaches and members of CCF have provided me with an environment of endless support and enthusiasm that I’ve never found anywhere else. Setting goals and then achieving personal records has strengthened my commitment to personal fitness and overall health. I’ve been thrilled with the achievements that I’ve made over the last 2 ½  years and can’t wait to see what the next year holds for me.
